Now we're really confused: Scientists say we don't need to drink so much water

Oh those wacky scientists! This week, they've decided that maybe you don't need to drink as much water as they originally thought. In fact, two kidney experts insist that if you're drinking water when you're not thirsty, you might even be doing some bodily harm. Great, after my climate guilt finally kicked in enough to convince me to ditch the Voss habit and invest in a Brita and a six-pack of Siggs? Like everything else, the First World was probably consuming more than its fair share of clean drinking water anyway. But if you're not ready to give up the lovely feeling of instant hydration, another study has confirmed that drinking tea is better than drinking plain water anyway.

But wither the pig placenta beverage, scientists? It has zero calories and supposedly makes you oh so beautiful! Meh, I'm sticking with a cup of mocha and something tasty, like the moffle. Certainly one of those two things are going to be good for you if we wait long enough.

i don't know much about nutrition but i do know that water is essential to all body functions. i really would have to say to everyone that next week or month they will retract this statement. as for me i love to drink water and i will continue to do so.

Well, I have always felt that 8- 8 ounce glasses was overload- I am more the 4-5 glasses/day type~ I mean- do these 8 glass fans spend all their time in the bathroom? Totally agree- water is essential- but once again- moderation appears to be the key~

The amount of water depends on the size of the person obviously. But after learning Anatomy while in massage school, I saw for the most part how the body functions and to say that you don't need water is just asinine. Of course I'm sure they're referring to "healthy" people not needing as much. But what they fail to address is that the majority of the population is UN-healthy, overweight and dehydrated. When we fail to oblige out bodies with water, we can lose the ability to feel thirsty and so the body sees that we are ignoring it and tries to trick us into getting it another way... hunger. So most of the US is overweight and dehydrated... I'd say its a bad idea to tell people that they don't need water.

HA! Remeber a few years ago they said "Oranges cause cancer. Stay away!" and now they say "Eat oranges because they help your heart" So that leaves me to wonder should I risk getting cancer just to have a heathly heart? Insane!!

if u consume excess water, u suffer from a reduction of the total body salt count. that is a bane since salt is essential for normal body functioning. about time we dig up on the age old proverb "too much of anything is bad"
