The Biggest Loser Club: Eat to Lose

No, you don't have to haul out the food scale or measuring cup to get a pretty accurate read of an appropriate portion size. The Biggest Loser trainer Bob Harper tells you how to take portion sizes in hand in this video:

Below is a Biggest Loser recipe for the "Almost Fast-Food Burger":

1 Tbsp low-fat mayonnaise
1/2 tsp ketchup
1/2 tsp yellow mustard
1/4 lb 96% lean ground beef
1 slice (3/4 oz) fat-free American cheese (optional)
1 whole grain or whole wheat hamburger bun
1/4 cup chopped romaine lettuce
1 thin slice red onion
3 dill pickle rounds

1. In small bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard. Stir to mix. Set aside. Shape beef into a patty that is about 1/2" wider than the bun.

2. Preheat medium nonstick skillet or grill rack on high heat. Place patty in skillet. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes per side, or until desired doneness. (Do not press burger with spatula.) About 30 seconds before burger is cooked, top with cheese, if desired.

3. Place bun halves, cut sides down, in pan. Cook for about 45 seconds, or until toasted.

4. Place bun bottom on serving plate. Top with patty, lettuce, onion, and pickles. Spread reserved sauce over inside of bun top. Flip onto burger. Serve immediately.

Iv lost 300 lbs working in the food industry. My trick to keeping it off...walk when you can...get what you want on your plate then only eat 3 or 4 bites (normal bites) of each food. throw out the rest...yeah yeah starving kids in africa. Tell the wasteful fairy to take a hike! better in the trash than in saddle bags on your butt!

Got a hunger craving? Drink 8 ounces of water before grabbing a sweet or carb-filled snack. Then see if you still want it (odds are, you won't! You were probably just thirsty!)

The best thing is to stay away from red meat (beef) all together. If you have to eat meat which most people do, eat roasted or broiled chicken, or fish. Fish is by far the best for you. I did this and lost ten pounds in two months without even working out. I also feel better. I'm not really over weight that much, but everyone wants to look better. Also a light dinner before seven PM is a must. Eating late is a NO,NO. A big meal just lays there. Running will shed pounds the fastest, I agree, but it is hard on your knees in the long run. Its not much fun having a knee replacement at 50-70 years old. I was a US Marine for thirty years so I know about running. My knees are not the greatest. The Eliptcal is by far the best work out machine for cardio. Just fifteen minutes a day will do wonders. Lets be real, most people can't eat six or eight small meals a day. The thing to do is eat smaller size meals, not stuff yourself. Also one thing I have read and found out to be true, is eat the right food. These health foods will help you stay in better health. Blue berries, nuts (pecans), Yogurt (low sugar), Olive Oil, Fish, Green Tea. Add them into your diet! Eat right and the weight will come off automatic. Thanks

I've fluctuated at around and around 280 lbs for abut 5 years going in weight.

I"m 23 and recently moved back home, got back on a mostly organic vegetarian diet(If I have meet it is mostly fish, and or a very Small portion of other meats.. no red meet at all).

I lost about 20 lbs in about 5 week, now that was a little fast but I have maintained it for almost 2 months. I plan on losing another 20 lbs with more exercise included.

    My 3 tips

1 do a bowel Cleans... Yes not the funnest, but if your not able to absorb the nutrition you need your body just tells you to eat more.

2 Eat only organic Fruits and Vegetables. If you do eat meet try to get free range meat(remember free range meet have Omega 3 unlike the feel lot verity)

3 Realize that what you intake has a very direct affect on how you feel Physically. Also how you feel emotionally has a direct affect on how your food tastes. So when you are cooking your food relax have fun. Food in suppose to be a fun enjoyable part of your day.

If you have a hard time getting organic start working into it buy less junk food, eat a orange instead of a candy bar.

    1 last things to remember

High fructose corn syrup inhibits the production of leptin(I hope I spelled that correctly).

Leptin makes you feel full. So that Coke you want will just make you hungrier.
