The Weekly Skinny: All the healthy news you need (4-3-09)

Looking for a way to take away some of the aches and pains that can come with exercise? Coffee may be the answer. FatFighterTV has a look at this story and other diet and fitness headlines making news this week.

Pistachios recalled - another salmonella alert

Here we go again. Not long after the huge peanut recall comes another salmonella problem in nuts - this time in pistachios. The Food and Drug Administration says California processor, Setton Pistachio, has recalled about one million pounds of pistachio products because they might be contaminated with salmonella. The company decided to recall the nuts after one of its customers - Kraft Foods - found salmonella in its Back To Nature Trail Mix.

Vegetarians more at risk of eating disorders
Vegetarians may eat healthier diets and may be less likely than non-vegetarians to be overweight or obese, but a new study in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association finds they may be more at risk for eating disorders like binge eating. The report also shows former vegetarians may be more likely to control their weight in extremely unhealthy ways like taking diet pills, making themselves vomit, or taking laxatives or diuretics.

Can coffee ease your exercise pain?
Are you one of those people who has a cup of Joe before you workout to get you going? A new report finds coffee may do more than just energize you - it may also kill some of the pain from exercising. Researchers say it works whether or not you already have a coffee habit.

meriagebel, you're probably fine. There are a lot of vegetarians out there too (particularly teenage ones :) ) who believe a diet of Doritos, pizza, and Coca-Cola is a proper vegetarian diet. I would assume the study reflects the increasing percentage of vegetarians who fall into this category.
