With so many of us going through life worrying about our health, our weight, and our lifestyles, new fads and diets pop up by the bucket loads every day.Ads telling you to eat grapefruit; drink water; stay away from grapefruit and only eat meat; eat nothing but raw foods, and much more. This not only can get very confusing, it can take a huge toll on your body. Different foods prompt our bodies to respond in different ways. An all-raw, mostly vegan diet will give your body a drastically different metabolism than something akin to the Adkins diet. Now, while both are bound to make you lose weight, how healthy are those diets for you?
Extensive scientific research conducted over the last 30 years shows evidence that your individual blood type determines your predisposition toward getting certain diseases, such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, lupus, muscular sclerosis, allergies, etc. Our blood type also determines what type of biochemistry our digestive systems are made of. "Your blood type is a powerful genetic fingerprint that identifies you as surely as your DNA - Dr. D'Adamo".
There are four blood type groups: O, A, B, and AB. The majority of people are Blood Type O. Next comes Blood Type A, then Blood Type B; and, Blood Type AB is very rare and has only been around for about 1000 years. Less than 5% of the world's population have Blood Type AB.
Have you ever noticed that some people can eat a variety of foods with no problems, while others suffer from gas, bloating, indigestion and heartburn? The reason for this is that people with different blood types cannot eat or digest the same foods equally.
In addition, I am sure we have all dealt with the disappointment of seeing our best friend get ahold of a fabulous diet and regimen that works for them, only to try it and have it fail miserably for us. Guess what? It's not your fault. Certain foods WILL promote weight gain or weight loss in all of us. Wheat gluten, wheat products (in abundance), corn, kidney beans, white flour, and sugar are pretty much universal. They aren't very healthy, and you can live without them. On the other hand, Green vegetables, sea kelp, and most seafoods are universal in promoting weight loss for almost everyone. These are pretty safe.
Here's my dilemma. I had cut a lot of foods out of my diet. I don't eat white carbs, got away from red meat, and started eating lots of chicken, vegetables, and fish. I really couldn't understand why I wasn't losing weight and my metabolism was still sluggish. Then I found out that with my blood type (I'm Type B+) I should never eat chicken. Ever. So I ditched the chicken and my energy level skyrocketed. This is still new for me, but it is already affecting me in ways I never thought possible.
I'm sure you're wondering where all this is going. So here's the deal. Knowing your blood type is not routine. If you don't know your blood type, go to your doctor and have him order a special blood test that will determine your type. Or if you donate blood, you can ask at your blood bank the next time you go. It will be in your charts. This is imperative for your health. Certain blood types are more prone to certain diseases and cancers, while others are more resistant or immune to them. In addition, you can cook a meal and serve it to your family, and if there are 3 different blood types sitting at that table, there are going to be 3 different metabolic reactions to that meal.

Most of the population has blood type O. Here the prescribed diet is low-carbohydrate, high in proteins (such as meat and fish), and low in dairy products. The diet suggests specific foods to avoid; such as avocados, brazil nuts, and oranges. Type O should also engage in lots of exercise.
Blood Type A should avoid red meat, eat plenty of fish and vegetables, with a low dairy intake. Light exercise only.
Blood Type B should avoid chicken and bacon, eat plenty of meat and dairy, some fish, and plenty of fruit and vegetables.
Blood Type AB combines the A and B diets.
Now I want to make a few things very clear: I am NOT a doctor. I am NOT saying this is fool-proof and is guaranteed to work for you. If you have medical conditions that make you metabolize foods differently than you normally would, this may not work for you. What I WILL say is that it is a method that is proving itself over and over again with everyone who has tried it and reported back on it. This is not a "Lose 10 lbs in 10 days" type of thing. You are not dieting with this plan. You are changing your lifestyle and your body's metabolic functioning. Don't expect to lose 4 dress sizes in a month. If that's your goal, then this isn't for you.
