Top 8 signs of lasting weight loss

Other than staring at the bathroom scale, what are the most common signals people use to know they are at the right weight?  Here's what 322 people told us in a recent survey:

      * When my jeans feel comfortable again.

      * When I have to start wearing a belt.

      * I suck in my stomach, and I can see some definition, like a 4-pack.

      * When my belt notch moves back to where it used to be.

      * When I don't get tired walking up two flights of stairs to my office.

      * When I can see my cheekbones.

      * When I don't have to inhale to button my pants.

      * When friends or colleagues ask me if I've lost weight.

How many of these do you use?

This is a bad title- none of those are signs of lasting weight loss. They are signs of weight loss period. Very misleading title.

I use none of these. I look at bodyfat%, blood pressure, and RHR.

I do not believe in a "right weight," especially not in correlation to height.

    hii sera_pande!

    :) i reallly love food too!!! i don't think there's a crazyy fast way, but this is what i do, and it keeps my weight balanced and everything..plus im so energetic im almost hyper lol so emm;

    1) eat good food. NEVER ever everrr eat fast food, the mcdonalds, burgers kings and pizza' places shud be considered satan's lair to ya. Treat yourself to french fries once in a blue moon to fix the fast food craving.

    2) onlyyyy eat wen u are hungry. And, stop halfway thru, take a breather -u mite not want it anymore.. most people actually subconsciously feel the need to finish everything on our plates! so acknowledge that, and be careful!

3)always try to order salads+turkey or watever in it (its quite filling), vegies, and/or seaaaafood! i looove seafood, and it'll do ya good.

    4) Olive oil, i swear by it...i'll put it on anything. Apparently, if u have any fats in ur arteries, or anything cloggy from the bad oils,,olive oil actually does a clean sweep in ur blood vessels, makes it slippery and unclogs any dirt in there..thats just one of its benefits!!

    5) cook at home. You dont need those packets from the freezer section or wateva to make a fast meal! it's actually faster, lighter and tastier, to grab some salmon, meat, chicken breast, tuna, watever from ur freezer, drizzle olive oil all over, pepper ,salt & lemon -stuff into the oven at 180C-200C for 20mins and ur DONE..serve wth salad leaves (use same ingredients),just add olives or feta for exoticness or brown bread....the packet meals contain HEAPS of salt and sugar to make up for lack of flavour, not to mention the chemical garbage and cancer causing crapp

    6) try and find an exercise class, bellydance,salsa,stretch,anything...i found a place doing Yoga across the road from me!! i just do the light/beginner Hatha classes, and i swear i feel the difference almost immediatly. Do a 10min run/jog on the treadmill everyday..u cn do more, but at leeeast 10mins.

    7) drink juice!! btw juice gives a quick release of energy, so its an immediate energy booster, but u'll burn d energy fasst...and eat the fruit without juicing would give u the slower more constant release of energy throughout the day -due to the fiber..a juice lacks the fiber.

    8) Empty out ur cupboards and fridge.DO it!! :D take anything unhealthy out, and dump it...just ask, is this healthy? if u hesitate, even for 2secs, DUMP it. u'll find that, if ur cupboards only contain healthy snacking options (dried apricots, almonds, darrrk chocolate, miso soup packets, oats, ect) you will most likely, only snack on healthy stuff! same for mealtimes ;)

    u'll feel great i promise you =)

How about looking in a mirror?! If you are fat again then I guess the weight loss didn't last! You don't need 8 signs to tell you that.

I know I'm at the right weight when I truly feel comfortable in my clothes. Also when I run, I dont feel my stomach, back, and ass bouncing up and down feeling like its going to rip off. haha

Well I'm pretty tiny. My Dr. says that I am healthy although I'm not at the 'ideal' weight for my height. To me a healthy weight is when I'm happy and my clothes fit they way they should. People are going to talk either way so I might as well be comfortable at the size I am at =)

When my doctor says at my annual physical "3 more pounds and you'd be underweight for your height..." that's about right. I've always been small for my height and 1-5 pounds above the underweight cutoff is my average.

I thought this was going to provide some scientific guidelines. If this were on Digg, I'd bury it.

When your body will not let you lose any more reguardless of what you do. That is your perfect weight. I am a male and have weighed between 155 and 165 since high school. I have been out of school 33 years. I am 5ft. 8in. My Dr. says all is ok. By the way I have tried in the past to gain weight....no luck either.
