My boyfriend was recently given this assignment in
his Writing 101 class. He asked me for some suggestions and it
really got my mind moving.
For about five minutes I chose what I decided was the selfish route
and said that I would change some decisions that I am not proud of
or did not turn out how I wanted in my own life. I thought for a
while about what I could change to somehow transform myself into a
billionaire. I have to be honest; I am not the richest person in
the world or my street for that matter, so yeah I could use some
extra cash.
I thought about how I could change one thing on a larger scale and
I realized that I was being selfish in just changing my own life. I
thought I would get rid of Cancer, Aids, or all diseases in one
shot. Then I thought about the commercial I saw about this little
boy in Africa who lost his mother and had to take care of three or
four of his younger brothers and sisters alone. The commercial
showed him starring at a picture of his mother and crying. It
brought instant tears to my eyes just thinking about it. Heck, I am
holding them back now. That made me realize that the one thing that
I would change would not be to bring that boys mother back. I know
he was sad, but death is inevitable and I know that. I
felt bad for him but I thought of something that might help more
than just him.
Instead, I would take the unknown out of death. That’s my answer.
If I could change anything, I would change the world into a place
that knows without any doubt what happens to us after death. We
would know if we do actually go somewhere else and are eventually
reunited with all of our loved ones. We would have less reason to
be sad when they pass away if that were true. No matter what the
answer was, I think it would have a very positive impact on the
world.
How about you, what would you change?

Report AbuseIf I had the power to change ONE thing, it would be for all mankind to stop eating meat, fish and foul. "Thou shalt not KILL"

Report AbuseWow! Your answers are very deep, my first response was to make me skinny, but you guys have a way better answer than mine.
Now my second answer will be suffering, no one to suffer in this world. I would not change death, because everything that is born needs to die, everything that goes up, must come down, my mother always said we should not worry about the people that die, they no longer feel pain or suffering, we should worry about us that stay behind, we are the ones who feel and suffer from their lost.
But I do believe God is good and he takes our souls right away after we die, so we will no longer suffer. God is wonderful and merciful…
he will be with us for ever...

Report AbuseWhat a great answer about what happens after death. To Jennifer with the autistic nephew ~ start with his diet first. Has anyone ever wondered why there are so many children in the last 2 decades that have that "disease"? We are all being poisoned with the foods we consume.
As far as what I would change.. it would have to be the fate of the world in general. I fear we are heading for very tough times. World peace and harmony with nature would be at the top of my list.

Report Abusewell that was an interesting subject, what if you did know what death was like and it was real frighting, would you still want to know?like someone posted said its a seperation from the soul coming out the body, and that sounds like it could be painful, and what if there really is a heaven and hell, and you or one of your loved ones was in it?wouldn't that be torture to see them suffer?i don't think we was meant to know for certain reasons and only god knows, which i believe is best..it test your faith and seperatates the belivers from the non-

Report Abusei would eliminate all the pain and fear of not knowing what the future holds. i would want evryone to be happy and not so judgmental. i would heal the pain and sorrow of others even if it brought pain upon me. i would give evryone a happy day even if it were poor. i just wish we could all live with out fear, pain, sorrow, and the need to hurt someone else.

Report AbuseGreat question! I'll have to think about it. It's difficult because there are so many things to choose from.
As for your answer, I think it's great, however, 1,000 years from now, will people think the same way we do today? Will they argue with each other the way people today do, one group saying, "My ancestors knew FOR A FACT that there is an afterlife," while another group says, "No, that's just a legend, no one really knows"?
I feel like God gave us the answers, we just have to choose whether or not we're going to believe them, and I'll admit that 2,000 years after the birth of Christ it IS difficult to know for sure whether or not it all really happened the way we've learned it did. Faith is believing without seeing, so I'm choosing to have faith that there IS and afterlife. I do not, however KNOW, like Lolipop seem to know, that I am definitely going to Heaven. I think it's incredibly conceited and dangerous to assume I am. I need to WORK to get to Heaven. When we start believing we're better than we are, that's when we get into trouble.

Report AbuseJudgement, in the human sense.
I think that most people's decisions on what to change are selfless and good, but I am thinking on a much larger scale.
Yes, changing disease or hunger or war is all good, but dig deeper. Where does the root of many problems lie?
My opinion is that judging others is the single most horrible "disease" out there. It gives people reason to hate or envy others, which leads to war.
Judging others is something people have written off as "normal human behavior" when in fact it is not. None of us are perfect; we've all done things we regret. The last thing we need is for others to kick us while we are down.
Cancer, autism, aids, physical/mental deformations are all things that most of us would love to change; but the answer I gave above is something to help preserve our non-physical selves as opposed to preserving our physical beings.

Report AbuseOK, I guess my answer would be that people would not be able to physically harm each other. Or, even better, that the whatever they try to do to each other would instead be done onto them!! I would say the world's worst most horrible problems fall under that category — child and spousal abuse, kidnappings, rape, murder. I don't think this wish would take away "free will" because I'm sure people would still TRY to harm each other, and then they'd face ultimate punishment for those thoughts and actions, but I think in this way, at least the innocent would be better off.

Report AbuseJett, the bible says that "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believe in him will not perish but have an everlasting life (John 3 V 16)". God's love and kindness is giving to you, I and everyone who believes in him (even those who do not) freely. It is not because we are good or thoughtful or faithful. No, it's because he's a loving God. That is why the bible clearly tells you that all you have to do is confess that he is your lord and savoir and believe in him to do what he promises in your life thru his word. It is by faith that you walk with him. The Holy Spirit will guide you, letting you know of the truth. I was baptized into Christ seven yrs ago and though I might fall and stumble in my walk with him, I know he knows my heart and since he sees how hard I try to be good, he judges me accordingly.
There are people who think that because they are good, they’ll be in heaven. My friend, it isn't so. Only thru Christ will you be received. He paid the price and mends the bridge, all you have to do is believe in him and ask him to fellowship with you.
I'm not sorry for preaching but I do hope no one was offended by it.
