User Post: What if your OB/GYN was lesbian?

We all have a certain right to privacy. We choose what we wish to tell people about ourselves.

I know many people that would rather see a male doctor over a female doctor and vice versa. I have a friend that refuses to use a massage therapist that is female.

So my question to you is this. If you knew that you OB was a lesbian would that bother you? Would you be offended if you found out this information?

Or can you simply say this is no different from seeing a male doctor. Would you see it as a woman just doing her job?

Let me know what you think.

I don't think it would make any difference to me, but note that I did say "think". I would probably like the same formation that is taken with a male doctor; which usually is that there is a female nurse in the room with him while performing examinations.

I wouldn't mind. I do prefer a female over a male OB/GYN, but it's because she has the same parts and can relate to hormonal imbalances, and periods and such, not because I feel anyone would get aroused examining me. I think most Dr's are professional, and don't look at you in the stirrups and think, ooh, yeah, baby! :):) No matter what their sexuality. (although I'm sure there are some perverts who do-- eeeww...)

    Good post!

I don't think you could ever say as a FACT that anyone is straight or gay...'cause these things are not black and white.

I think every person is bisexual (if we MUST assign a label) to varying degrees....people just feel more comfortable slotting themselves into a category, so most of them just CONVINCE themselves they're straight or gay.

Sorry, I know I obviously can't answer your question...and I'm not trying to tread on any toes....just wanted to point out my opinion on that.

    No difference to me!

I know many gay people that are professional.

Although, I have to be drug to the doctor's for ANYTHING.

Guess, I'm just an old stubborn woman! LOL

It would bother me, just like a male OB does... I'm not saying that everyone that is attracted to the female gender is going to be lusting after me, especially in that environment (as I would hope all Doctors maintain a certian level of propriety and professionalism)... but after hearing too many stories of male OB's abusing their authority I would think the same goes for famales as well... Maybe it's just my paranoia, I don't know.. I see a woman OB for reasons that she is a woman and would know better what women go through as opposed to a male and for the reason stated above... but I think it really boils down to I really don't know what I would feel if I learned such personal information... I could still be cool with it or I may be uncomfortable...

So I guess it's better that I just don't know in the first place...

I do not believe that a female doc requires a stand in as a male doc does.

It really would not make a difference to me. I dread and hate those types of exams, no matter who is examining.

I don't know 29... everytime I have gone in for a yearly there has been a female nurse in with my Doctor and I have seen a female Doctor every year... Only I don't go see a straight OB... I just go to my family practice doctor.. I would rather have a doctor that sees me for every ailment... though that's not to say the clinic I go to doesn't have OB/GYN's because they have 2 or 3... I just like seeing one Doctor for everything not specialized.
