You would know this if you'd witness me squealing at the refrigerator when I remember I have a lemon or lime or cucumber to slice up and spice up my water for the day. It's a little sad how little it takes to make me happy to hydrate.
This is why I was excited when a box of Hint flavored water arrived in my mail. It's not that I am a fan of flavored water -- most have unnecessary sugar and coloring, and are sold in individual plastic bottles that are not doing any favors for our planet. But when I noted that hint doesn't have sweeteners, sugar, calories, or artificial coloring, I was willing to see if it relieved some of the taste boredom that strikes two or three bottles into my day.
I tried four flavors -- Honeydew Hibiscus, Pomegranate-Tangerine, Strawberry Kiwi, and Raspberry-Lime. I liked the sound of the flavors, just a little more exotic than Kool-Aidish Razzberry Blue or the elusive Ice, and I even wondered what the Cucumber and Watermelon would taste like.
This water's not called Hint on a whim. Those enticing flavors are barely noticeable. That's both good and not good. You won't be wowed by some juicy goodness with each swig, nor will you be overwhelmed by a face-scrunching asparatame-y fake sweetness.
The more I drank, the more I liked it. But I will be honest, Hint didn't quench my desire for water with a little more va-va-voom and I don't think it wowed me enough to spend money on it. I do like that the flavor is natural and that it is free of all the junk packed into many waters you will find in convenience store refrigerators. I give the company lots of credit for that and would recommend Hint to anyone who wants a little something -- a very little something -- in their water bottle.
As for me, I will reserve my flavoring for the really natural stuff, like a squeeze of lemon or a few strawberries, rather than pay for less in a little plastic bottle.
Are you a fan of flavored water? Have you found a good one that's not packed full of sugar, color, calories, and other junk?
