These days you can't help but open a newspaper, turn on the TV or long onto the internet without hearing about two topics: the current state of our economy & Barack Obama. In his first month as President, Obama has become one of the most analyzed human beings in the world. Every word, action & non-action for that matter has been summarized, criticized and recorded. He is facing some of the harshest criticisms and toughest decisions in our nation’s history. Even if you don’t like him, you can’t deny that President Obama is a rare type of human being able to say calm under unimaginable pressure. Rather than cowering under the weight of the world, his spirit explodes into action. For this reason, he is a spiritual gangster.
What makes a Spiritual Gangster?
1. One who stays true to themselves amidst adversity
Only time will tell whether the decisions Obama has made are the right ones. Yet he exhibits a sense of moral fortitude on doing what he believes is right to save the livelihood of so many Americans. Think about this in your own life…have you ever made a decision that wasn’t liked by your friends, family, or coworkers but you believed it to be true so much that you went ahead and did it anyways? This notion of following your natural instinct, or gut reaction, is vital to our happiness. Live your life and make decisions based on what YOU believe to be true and what is best for YOU and no one else. As my favorite yogi Dave Romanelli says, “You owe no loyalty to anyone but your own soul and that is the most sacred form of loyalty.”
2. One who honors the power of the present moment
Barack Obama is a high vibration type of person. When he walks in the room, people notice. When he speaks, people listen. When he calls for change, people act. Anyone willing to overcome distraction and be more present increases their vitality and vibration and no public figure does it quite like Barack Obama. When we are constantly distracted by emails, phone calls, and text messages, our vibration drops along with our ability to positively impact others.
3. One who prioritizes the power of love over the love of power
By recognizing love is stronger than force, we ignite the spirit. Part of Obama’s power during the recent campaign was his ability to uplift positive emotions in so many millions of people around the world. A spiritual gangster is one who transcends fear, doubt, and pessimism by recognizing that what can weaken the body cannot effect the spirit.
