Warming up to a new microwave

As I have detailed in the past, I'm not big on the whole microwave idea. They do however, have their strong points. Nothing is quicker or easier for reheating leftovers (which I do love), or for defrosting the pork loin in a hurry. Plus, with all the new technology, now you can roast, brown and do all that good stuff as well right in your microwave.

LG has gone one step further by helping to solve one of the biggest problems about getting a meal ready, hot and on the table all at once. This new over-the-counter microwave has a new function--a warming mode--that keeps food warm under a light (with radiant heat, not microwaves) until it's ready to go to the table. It's great for those of us who don't have the space, or the budget for warming ovens. Kudos LG.

LG Over-The-Range Microwave with Warming Lamp, $459 to $529 depending upon finish; US.lge.com for information.

No, I'm not turning into a Bhuddist monk, giving away everything except the shirt on mine and my kids' backs. I've just come to my senses. If I own a lot less, life will become simpler. -Blond & Blithe
