Report AbuseHere's a few other things you want to avoid...I'm in HR and these are all comments that hiring managers and other HR people have made about some things candidates do wrong on the interview:
1) Dressing wrong for the occassion. If you are interviewing in a manufacturing environment, leave the spike heels at home...instead wear closed toe shoes and ones that cover your heel. If you don't then we can't give you tours of the place and are going to think you don't know anything about working in this type of environment.
2) Gum chewing---this one's a pet peeve of a lot of hiring managers.
3) Cell phones: If you must bring it in with you, please put it on vibrate or silent and do not answer it during the interview. This is just plain rude.
4) Act alive. We want to see that you are hyped up about the job and have some energy...so try to show some enthusiasm.
5) Ask questions. Better yet, research the company's website and think of 3-4 questions appropriate to the job you are seeking. This impresses employers.
6) Eating: You would be shocked at the number of people who decide that it is okay to eat lunch during the interview. This is a no-no, unless of course you are having a lunch interview. In that case, stick with something moderately priced, offer to leave the tip, and don't order beer or Jack Daniels with lunch.
Hope this helps!
