10 Things You Never Knew About Robert Pattinson

Think you know everything about the New Moon hunk? Think again.

The New Moon heartthrob has fans salivating over his every move, but he still has secrets he’s been hiding — until now.

1. He wanted to grow up to be Jay-Z
On one of his first trips to New York, Rob visited the Brooklyn projects where Jay-Z grew up.  “When I was 14, I fronted a rap trio,” Rob told The New York Times. His claims his group was “pretty hard-core for three private school kids from suburban London.”

2. He says he doesn’t think about his hair — ever.
Rob’s messy, longish hair has become his trademark, but he claims he puts almost no effort into it. “I've never really had a specific look in mind. It is what it is,” he told Fandango.com. “It's so funny, a friend of mine from London came over and said, “Why is everyone going on about your hair all the time?” Everyone has hair like that in London.”

3. He insists he’s a freak.
“I’m unbearably self-conscious about stuff,” he told Vanity Fair, adding that he thinks he looks like “a cartoon character” and that one of his legs is shorter than the other, which makes him look “like an idiot.”

4. He’s also a bit of a slob.
A writer who came to Rob’s hotel room at the San Diego Hard Rock Hotel describes it as “littered today with beer bottles, old scrambled eggs, a half-eaten Twix bar, and a dirty pair of jeans on the living-room floor” and an unmade bed.

5. He stole his Twilight costume — and wears it regularly.
“I wear the same clothes every single day,” he confessed to Vanity Fair. Rob proved it was true when he was caught in the same dark T-shirt and jeans that were part of his Edward costume at an appearance on MTV. “That’s really embarrassing!” he admitted. “I don’t have any new clothes, so I just took my Twilight costume at the end.”

6. You wouldn’t want to bet against Rob in a street fight.

Sure, he’s a pretty boy from London, but Rob can really get tough when he has to.“Rob loved the martial arts stuff, and he’s quite talented at that,” trainer Nathan Mellalieu, who trained the New Moon and Eclipse cast for their fight scenes, told the Vancouver Sun. “He’s got really great hand speed.”

7. He sometimes scares people on purpose.

Rob used his acting skills to look like a vagrant so that he could walk around Vancouver uninterrupted while filming New Moon. “They have this thought that no one there wears hoods except for problem people. It's like if you're wearing a hood, you're going to mug people,” he confessed to Time. “So it's a boring disguise, but it worked when I wore a hood. And then I'd sort of spit on the ground a little bit and do a little bit of shaking around as you're walking. Everyone moved around to the other side of the street.”

8. He believes dogs are people too.
Rob’s family adopted Patty, a White Highland Terrier, when the actor was just 5 years old. Rob was heartbroken when she passed away last Christmas. Patty was “like a sister to me,” he told Vanity Fair.  He plans to buy a home soon so he can adopt a new dog. 9. His co-star Kristen Stewart calls him “Flippy.”
No, it’s not the sexiest nickname, but Kristen says it’s appropriate because Rob can’t ever keep still. “His hand are like flippers,” she explained to E! News.

10.  He will probably release an album, but he doesn’t really want to.
Though he turned down the opportunity to perform on the New Moon soundtrack, Rob plans to return to his music career eventually. “I'm not particularly interested in releasing [an album], but I'd like to do some gigs,” he told British newspaper The Sun in October. "I guess the only way to do that is to get an album out."
