20 Hot Gift Ideas That Give Back

We've rounded up some of our favorite gift ideas that have the duel benefit of giving back to charity. Why give once when you can give twice!? 

1) Check out Macy's for the Rwanda "Uphold" Box & Bracelet Set. Made by the women of Rwanda Africa these 100% natural banana leaf bracelets use natural dye and are housed in a lovely woven box. Part of the Rwanda Path to Peace Collection, a trade not aid project. $60.00.

2) Five Accessories sells a lovely reversible bag called the Rwanda Tote and created by women of Rwanda of eco-friendly material. $5.00 from each fair trade cloth bag from Rwanda goes to support the Women's Equity in Access to Care and Treatment (WE-ACTx), an international community based initiative headquartered in Kigali, Rwanda dedicated to helping survivors of genocidal rape and sexual violence. $56.00.

3) The new Just Stand Up! for cancer song is now out on iTunes. The uplifting track pulls together Beyoncé, Mary J. 4) Mel B of the Spice Girls and Kraft Brands has created a cute tee shirt at Poseforthecure.com. Each shirt sells for $24.99 at the above website with free S&H. $10.59 from each sale will go to the Susan G. Kormen for the Cure to aid breast cancer research.

5) The Color of Hope collection from L'Oreal Paris will donate $5.00 from each kit sold to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF). Each collection includes lip colour, lip gloss, eye shadows and a cute silver cosmetic bag for $25.00 plus S&H.

6) Donna Karen has teamed up with City Harvest with a special Make A Wish gold apple necklace. 100% of the proceeds from each necklace will go to the NYC charity which feeds the home bound.

7) The Hunger Site has created a large catalog of items that give back. I love their little Chilean Good Luck Pig for $4.95. For each little pig sold, The Hunger Site will fund 25.0 cups of food.

8) Inches International has created cute metal bangle bracelets for $5 each which help send children of Liberia and Sierra Leone Africa to school. Buying 20 bracelets is enough to pay for one child's entire school year. For more information check out: www.inchesinternational.org.

9) The Nancy Davis and Tommy Hilfiger has teamed up with QVC to create a Diamonique® Sterling Pave’ Bangle Bracelet with 10% percent of net proceeds going towards MS research through the Nancy Davis Center Without Walls. Seen on the arms of the Hilton sisters it retails for $255.00 at QVC.com.

10) The FEED Bag (see our review here) now comes in so many new shapes and forms. Along with still being sold on Amazon.com and Tom's shoes, The FEED Bag has also teamed up with Whole Foods and Rugby by Ralph Lauren. Each FeedBag 100 shopper bought will feed 100 children worldwide. $30.00

11) nest has a whole collection of handcrafted gift ideas that give back through mico loans to women in developing countries. My favorite are the lovely Salsa Bowls by Maria Belen de la Cruz of Mexico. $30.00

12) Christian Lacroix has gotten tough by creating a t-shirt covered in flowers, hearts and some fairy looking being buzzing about. While this seems soft and sweet each $70.00, 100% organic cotton, shirt will help fund the Environmental Justice Foundation which aims to prevent and crack down on child labor in the cotton industry. Along with Mr. Lacroix other designers such as Luella Bartley and Betty Jackson have also created shirts for EJF and a number of models have been wearing them backstage at shows to get the word out.
