5 Helpful Airport Websites

user

Taking flight this Summer for an action packed vacation? Or maybe you're off to visit friends and family? Whatever the case, I'm going to make sure to equip you with all the geeky tools you'll need to have an amazing and stress free vacay. I've already listed tech travel tips to remember before you leave the house and websites to visit before you bon voyage, but what about those few hours before you jet off? Here are some of my favorite websites that you may want to check out before flying up up and away.

  • Best Parking: Before you head to the airport, have a peek at Best Parking, a site that will provide you with all of the lowest priced parking areas near or at the airport.
And if you're renting a car at your destination, it also shows you cheap parking (daily and monthly rates) throughout major cities in the US.
  • Flight Wait: Planning a Summer trip? You can scope out airport delays by checking out Flight Wait, a site that takes data from the Federal Aviation Association and synthesizes it into an easy-to-read map noting airport delays. Delays are shown via color coded flight lines (red means you'll have a 1–2 hour delay, whereas green marks mean you only have a 0–15 minute delay). All you have to do is enter the zip code, departure city, or the relevant airport code.
  • WiFi FreeSpot: If I'm waiting for a flight to board, or I'm on a really long airport layover and I've got my laptop on me, free WiFi can make all the difference in the world.
To see if the airport you're waiting in has free WiFi, check out WiFi FreeSpot on your web-enabled phone. Organized by state and then country, you'll be able to see if your airport is on the list!
  • ArrivedOK: Use ArrivedOK to not only track your flight but to input your flight and destination airport, expected arrival time, and the phone number and emails of the person(s) picking you up at the airport so that they will get a notification when you land.
The site detects when your phone is turned on when you land (therefore you must be registered with a local GSM network) and shoots out a message to the person picking you up letting them know of your arrival!
  • Tracking Flights Using Google: Quickly get your flight's departure time by going to Google, typing in your airline and flight number and Google will tell you whether your flight is on time or delayed. . . Just like that, straight from Google.
