Are Full Time Jobs harder to get now?

Is it me or are they harder to come by?  Normally, jobs that I apply to I'd get offers out the wing-wang, and now, I send my resume and nada.  Zip.  It's as if I've fallen into a derth, a strange land, and am getting increasingly mad at the situation because I work hard, and expect to be rewarded with job offers. I have to laugh when mail room jobs can now demand a college degree!  That's laughable.  What happened to the normal '9-5' jobs?  Seems that there are a lot of odd hours jobs, hourly jobs and ones that demand that you give every talent to the employer in exchange for your time but no benefits attached. Am I alone?

Often employers only want employees to work - say thirty hours - to avoid paying full benefits. Here in Dallas, that makes finding a full time position nigh impossible. I agree with you that I don't understand the purpose of requiring over qualifications for some positions. Why oh why would a mail room clerk need a college degree? I can't imagine what GB would have to do with this -Presidents don't make state law requirements that deal with employment and benefits. Check your state laws...
