Are Social Security benefits being cut off to pay for the bailouts?

So, the benefits my son received from his sperm donor were cut as
of god-knows-when, but forever, because lord-knows-why. Seriously.
No letter, no warning. I wish they would have said something before
I mailed off a couple of checks to pay bills.

After talking to my husband, we started to
wonder if this isn't happening as a means to finance part
of the bailouts. Apparently, we are not alone in this situation. It
seems that many of his disabled clients have started the New Year
off the same way we have- up s---s Creek.

Of
course, we did not expect to have the benefits forever. This was
the only money received for the support of my son. My ex owes over
ten thousand dollars in child support and being that its interstate
collection and we aren't sure which state my nomadic
scum-bag of a sperm donor lives at the moment, there's not
much hope. We completely expected to have time to prepare for the
Social Security to be cut off. After all, we expected my ex to
either die or become permanently institutionalized at some point
and eventually my husband would legally adopt my son.

What I certainly didn't expect was for
the government to decide that my ex was magically cured of his
bi-polar disorder. I only suspect that, because like I said,
I'm still waiting for that letter to explain the benefits
were terminated.

On the funny side, Social
Security normally takes a month to enact any change, so this was
surprising! This is the fastest in my experience and in both our
years working with people receiving benefits, that the SSA has done
anything. What the heck!?

We couldn't
help but wonder, is this how we are helping big business? Are we
stealing from the poor to give to rich? (We weren't poor,
but we are currently working on it thanks to this and a lot of
other "surprises")

I just saw that you posted on Nestle's blog. Thank you for your statements. John is a great guy and he's a cop. That crowd over there does not like his conservative answers and I know that he will appreciate your defense.

Don't be surprised if they attack you. You are welcome to contribute to our group if you would like. Just click my picture and you'll find out where a lot of us are at. Rockinmom, Sunshine, and Groovy all have blogs running that are less than a week. Mainly everyone is on Rockin's. Thanks again!
