Be careful shopping at Best Buy on Black Friday 2009 - Best Buy Return Policy

user

Do you plan on shopping at Best Buy on Black Friday? Well, you might want to reconsider.  Picture this:  On Black Friday, you brave the crowds and go to Best Buy.  You buy the perfect Christmas present. You put it away when you get home.  A few days before Christmas, you go to assemble the "perfect gift" and it is defective.  You can not go to the store and return it in time for Christmas. You have to contact the manufacturer.

Best Buy Return Policy

I went to Best Buy over the weekend. I purchased a nice camera for my son's birthday next week.  The cashier told me Best Buy's Return Policy.  You have 2 weeks to return defective items to the store.  That seems a bit tight.  The cashier explained that if the shutter on my camera didn't open and it was after 2 weeks from when I bought it,  I would have to contact the manufacturer. Do you know what a pain that would be?

 According to Best Buy's website:

"Exchange and Return Period"
"Exchange or return your item anytime from the original purchase date within the timeframe below:
14 days for computers, monitors, projectors, camcorders, digital cameras, and radar detectors
30 days for all other products
45 days for all products for Reward Zone Program Premier Silver members"

Caveat emptor.
