Birds are eating my sunflower seeds!

Lately there has been lots of feathered activity in the vegetable garden -- especially around the giant sunflowers, whose big heads are drooping and heavy, full of ripening seeds. I harvested some of them and toasted them up -- pretty yummy -- but a lot of work for very little return. I decided to let my avian friends have the rest.

Find out how to keep pests out of your veggie garden.

I always let my plants go to seed -- it's the right thing to do! The flowers and seeds attract insects -- the beneficial ones and the not-so-beneficial ones -- and then the birds come and feast on both seeds and bugs, and everything in the little ecosystem I've set up seems perfectly in balance.

    Hi Ivette,

Saw you on Bonnie Hunt and understood your comment about human urnine to keep certain pesty animals away. What I need to know is, will it keep moles away. and if so where do I pour the urine? Down into the holes in the ground or the mound tunnels that are all over my yard?
