Christmas charity all year long

To all the great folks here at shine, Happy Holidays!!!!!
I just wanted to make a comment about the holidays, and about the kindness we all tend to show more of towards the less fortunate around this time of the year. I think it is a great thing to feel charity towards someone else, and lend a helping hand to another person who needs it. Small acts of kindness make a big impact in anothers life! But what I think is most important is showing that kind of charity all year round, not just during the holiday season. It's always good to give! But wouldn't it be a better world if we gave all the time? In times like these, where our country, (and the world) are going thru hard times, we should be even more aware of others who are struggling and not just ourselves who might be struggling too. When you show you care, even the smallest gesture can make someones day! I remember tough times and the struggles I had as a single mother, with three small boys, homeless at Christmas. And although it was many years ago, a simple act of kindness from someone else, gave me the courage to go on throug that tough and painful time in my life, and in my childrens lives. A kind person gave me and my children a home to stay in until I could get on my feet. Basically a total stranger, just because they were kind enough to help. I have never forgotten that act of kindness. They didn't have to do it. But they did. and because of that, I had a chance to move on to bigger and better things. A simple thing like a smile, can make all the difference to someone who just needs to know they are important. Year round charity is important, and I hope everyone does one good deed today. Just one. It doesn't have to be a big thing. Just a small and simple thing. You would be amazed at how your life will change! I hope all of you and yours have the best holidays ever. with much love, K
