I work in a relatively small office. We are a close group. We recently hired "Jane." Jane is nice and efficient. However, whenever you ask her how things are going, send her a casual im or make chit chat Jane takes that as an opportunity to turn it into a 30 minute one-sided conversation. And when you give her hints that the converstaion needs to wrap up she ignores them and continues to talk. At this point, my co-workers and I are afraid to say anything other than "good morning" for fear that she'll start yammering on. We don't want her to think that we don't like her. She's new to town and doesn't have any girlfriends yet. How do we make her feel welcome without the long conversations?
