Cool Ideas From Metropolitan Home's Modern by Design Showhome

user

Public tours of Metropolitan Home's Modern by Design show home in San Francisco kicked off this week. If you don't live in the City by the Bay, hopefully you've had a chance to check out my photos from my sneak preview tour of the home. You can't help but notice that the digs are dripping floor to ceiling in luxurious furnishings and artwork, but spending big bucks isn't what got the designers on the radar of Met Home; they have some savvy tricks up their sleeves. Check out a few innovative design ideas I noticed throughout the home in the gallery below.

Modular Furniture and Flooring

David T. Oldroyd and Greg Stewart from ODADA designed this modular furniture and flooring installation for the living room — the first thing you see upon entering. A piece of eco-vinyl flooring acts as a rug, and the modular seating and coffee table rise out of it, so that the furniture and flooring are one. It has a beautiful effect, but there's no going back. I hope you like cocktail parties!
