Where to set up a home office in your house.
Choosing the room to create a home office can be a challenge,
well sometimes some of us don't have a
choice. When setting up your home office it should be thought
of in the same manner as if you had gone and rented an
office outside. This will now be your place of work.
Sounds exciting yes! Your home office space should be
somewhere quiet so business can be conducted in a
noninterupted and professional manner. Free from dogs barking and
screaming kids.
Your home office can be on the kitchen table, living room
couch or a corner in your bedroom. But you will have better
chances of succeeding and making the transition to your stay at
home career if you take it serious and treat your work at
home job like you would any other job.
I created a my work at home office in the
basement. I had a walkout basement which was nice, because it
was bright and I like to see outside while I work. I
finished 2 rooms, one for my office and one as a childrens play
room. I chose the room where I could see outside and
keep an eye on my children while playing outside.
And when they where in their playroom playing with toys or watching
TV I could also keep an eye on them. It worked for
me.
Depending on what you are doing for work some of the basics
office items you will need are: a desk and comfortable
desk chair, office computer with internet preferably cable or DSL,
printer, scanner, fax (all in one units are great), file cabinet,
landline telephone, copy machine and I needed a place I could see
outdoors to have natural light. These are just the basics you
will need to get you off and running. Choose a room that
makes you feel good, fits your needs and fill your office
with things that inspire you. Anything that makes you smile
and that is inspiring, pictures of your family, pets,
tropical places, a place you would like to travel to, a dream home,
vacation home, well you get the idea.
