Do you iPod while working?

I have to do research at the
local Clerk's office and frequently I've
seen others with their iPods and earbuds silently
working. I always wondered how they managed to
concentrate while having their tunes blasting directly into their
head. How accurate can their final product really
be?

I brought mine to work this week on a
whim. I planned to test it out while inputting various
policies at my desk. WOW. Let me tell you, my
productivity skyrocketed! Of course I had the tune
selection set on "random" and my music variety
goes from one extreme to another. We're
talking Dr. Hook and ELO to Apocolyptica and
Disturbed!

I also decided to test it
outside of the office while doing my research. Again,
productivity soared! I think this was because I was able
to tune out the other conversations going on around me as
well as the telephone and cell phone ringers. Thankfully,
I didn't feel myself getting
distracted whatsoever. I also felt less stressed
and rushed.

The only drawback, besides not being
able to dance around and sing outloud, is that
the damn earbuds don't stay in my ears securely.
I wish there were a better alternative than the big ear covering
headphones, but for now, I guess I'll have to make
do. I'm still not sure what will cure me of
wanting to sing the lyrics and bop to the
beat.

Does your employer allow iPod or
mp3 usage? I think there should definitely be a study on
this issue! I think it would prevent brain melt down that
usually occurs with me by 3:00 pm.

Since I also own a home business, I am tempted
to download various conferences and training tips that I cannot
find the time to listen to during the evening when I get
home. I suspect that an actual speaker or
"voice" may make my brain a little fuzzy, but
it's worth a try.

What music do you have
on your iPod that gets you motivated? (I suppose Shake
that Ass by Eminem and Nate Dogg is a no-no, but I have that on my
iPod too!)

<img height="360" alt=""

No, but there are people who work with me who do. I don't have an iPod. I have an mp3 player in my phone, but I haven't started using it yet! I've had the phone for over a month. Ha, ha. I'm so technologically unadvanced. Where I work, we're allowed to listen to iPods while typing and stuff, but I think it's annoying, because if I ask someone a question, s/he can't hear me, and then I have to shout across the room.
