Favorite Products from the Ambiente Tabletop Fair

Ambiente, the fair held every February in Frankfurt, Germany, is the world’s biggest market for tabletop wares. It’s also a great venue for contemporary design, but it hasn’t attracted many American journalists or bloggers. Their mistake! This year, in spite of the global recession, there was an abundance of new products and a hopeful outlook among both exhibitors and attendees. The editors of Metropolitan Home share some of their favorite pieces from the fair below.

A few companies dedicated themselves to being green—or at least being greener. Coza Brasil introduced biopolymer plastic dinnerware made from coconut fibers. Coza.com.br

Count on Versace to produce a colorful and opulent pattern to add to its collection. Marco Polo sports a wing-like new shape and a complementary palette. Rosenthal.de

Missoni continued its collaboration with Richard Ginori by introducing two new dinnerware patterns that are striking and colorful—true to the Italian fashion company’s tradition. RichardGinori1735.com

For a vivid palette, look no further than Hey-Sign. The German company’s pillows, rugs and screens, all made from brightly colored felt, were standouts. Hey-Sign.de
