Everyone knows what fees are. They're these little tiny holes pricked into your bank account to bleed it dry when you already don't have any money. They're the ultimate revenge against you for canceling your cell phone service before the year was up. They're the price you pay when you don't have a minimum balance, didn't pay the entire credit card bill within 30 days, you downgraded your cable service or paid your rent 12 hours late because of your work schedule.
Fees is just a nice word created by corporations so they can commit highway robbery and get away with it. Did you know that if you borrow money on credit and pay it back your annual percentage rate is like 20% but when you overdraft your account (the same as borrowing) and receive a fee that the annual percentage rate is over 1000%?? Consumers are not getting robbed they are getting bent over the barrel.
Did you know that Washington Mutual alone collected over $1 billion dollars in overdraft fees alone last year???? A BILLION DOLLARS????!!!! Some poor sap who is unemployed with three kids, is standing in line at the Wamu begging for his last $35 because the bank decided he should be punished for not keeping a positive balance in his checking account and the bank meanwhile is bringing in enough money to feed and clothe the entire country.
Its not just banks, it's insurance, cable, phone and internet providers, contractors, electricians, web designers, kennels....its everywhere. The list goes on and on. Anyone that can do it will do it. It's like that Alfred Hitchcock movie The Birds. No matter where you go or what you do, even if you stand real still the damn birds are there just waiting for you to make one wrong move so they can gouge your eyes out and rip you to shreds. Mr. Hitchcock should make a movie called The Fees-The Four Letter Word Your Mother Warned You About.
