Jim’s pranks (jelloed staplers, telling Dwight it’s Friday on a Thursday). Funny. Michael’s. Not funny. Just a thought on April Fool’s day, when pranks are probably flying across the “interweb” and from cubicle to cubicle today. Workplace humor has its place and its limits, as I’m sure anyone who’s been on the receiving end of a really off-color joke can attest.
If you’ve got some pranks lined up today, keep these tips from Helium for not being too much of an April fool in the office top of mind. A sampling:
1. Don't play pranks on people you don't like
2. Don't make a mess
3. If someone plays a prank on you, laugh it off.
Now, if you're trying to come up with some in-bounds office prank ideas, check out this list of 5 ideas from Entrepreneur.com. CareerBuilder surveyed workers and found that 32 percent have instigated or been on the receiving end of a prank. Here are the most memorable top 10 April Fools work pranks from the survey. I wouldn't recommended any of them. Not even the one in which each of the women in the office individually called the boss to tell him she was pregnant, though it's a tad humorous to think about him freaking out until he figured out the ruse.
So any good office pranks today? Got any sore memories of jokes gone bad or way too far?

Report AbuseA coworker of mine just left on maternity leave last friday. Today she had two of her "family members" call up and tell us that she had a 12lb baby boy. It was hillarous! My manager Dan totally fell for it and so I did I. Now thats a classy joke. We all know shes having a girl too so it was even funnier.
