I’m tired of gas hogs. Where are the new vehicle technologies?

We are all feeling the crunch at the pump and there are few options at the dealership to combat rising gas prices. Many Hybrid vehicles get less than 10 MPG better than the comparable gas models, cost much more and don’t pay for themselves. I have read about many different concepts in popular science magazines and have heard of some being put to practice in foreign counties. Take the French compressed air car which gets a staggering 2,796 miles on one small tank of gasoline. I’ve recently read that the car is set to take off in India and france. My question is why not here in the USA?

to be honest I hate gas prices its almost 4 dollars a gallon and I feel sorry for anybody who drives a v8 and up especially for myself I drive a v6 and it seems like I'm filling my car up anywhere from every 4/5 days which bites and to think the economy keeps getting worse as we speak

Personally I would rather go straight to electric. That's also because I plan to be completely self sufficient with solar and wind by next year.

To answer your question, why not in America is because of greed. That's what caused JP Morgan to destroy the wireless electricity producing towers Tesla invented to power the world. That's why the electric car was destroyed by GM. GM got their poetic justice, though didn't they? Big corporations maximize profits by controlling energy and charging as much as they can for it.
