Here we go yet again……… another doomsday scenario from a group of environmental scientists.

OSLO (Reuters) – Global warming is happening faster than expected and at worst could raise sea levels by up to 2 meters (6-1/2 ft) by 2100, a group of scientists said on Tuesday in a warning to next month’s U.N. climate summit in Copenhagen.

In what they called a “Copenhagen Diagnosis,” updating findings in a broader 2007 U.N. climate report, 26 experts urged action to cap rising world greenhouse gas emissions by 2015 or 2020 to avoid the worst impacts of climate change.

I thought Global Warming was supposed to Kill Us by Now

Well, 2010 is right around the corner and Al Gore has been stroking the global warming drum for well over 10 years. (All the while, traveling to and from environmental conferences in his gas guzzling private jet). So far, I just can’t lend much credence to this scenario of impending doom anyhow, since seeing is believing.

Miami and Manhattan are still well above water, and to the best of my knowledge, there hasn’t been a single case of any damage or problems caused by rising waters in the United States. I do recall seeing that an island off of the coast of Alaska is washing away, but that is just an erosion event. Or maybe it has something to do with our country’s obesity epidemic?

And the doom and gloom goes beyond the anticipated water rise, as environmentalists have been sounding alarms that global warming is contributing to active hurricane seasons. But where have all of these crusaders gone over the last 3 years when we have seen virtually no tropical activity? Are they only sounding alarms and pointing their fingers when it a convenient (not inconvenient) truth?

    Because they're not... at least not the extent that Global Warming fanatics would like for everyone to believe... it is physically impossible for melting ice caps to drastically flood the coasts like what is depicted in disaster movies... It's called Archimedes Principle.

    There may be some water level rising due to the surface tension of water or due to ice caps that are melting off of continental shelfs... but even continental shelfs will be somewhat bouyant, much like a cork. This has been shown to happen up in Inuit regions of Northern Canada, where lands were previously Islands are now becoming Pennisula's because the weight of the ice caps are decreasing... areas where the Inuit could canoe no longer can, because the bottoms of their canoes are dragging. I can't remember the exact area but if you are interested I know someone that knows this and can ask.
