Inspirational Office Moment: off-kilter bookcase

Although my heart remains with the industrial-looking Wisteria model, D.Sharp's bookcase post last Friday may have made room somewhere near my left ventricle for this honeycomb-with-a-hangover shaped unit by designer Sean Woo. I love the haphazard shapes and sizes of the compartments, and how it would make it easy to lump your books into categories like, "Would definitely read again," "Just keeping it around to look smart," and "Borrowed titles I need to return to friends": So much more fun than arranging them by color. The recyclable, stackable Opus Incertum unit measures 39.4" x 13.8" x 39.4", is made from expanded polypropylene, and can be had (with a little waiting time) for $467 (for the black or white versions; additional charges apply for gray or orange) from Unica Home. How do you arrange your books?

I LOVE THE LOOK OF THIS. Not the price. but maybe I could come up with something simalar just using scraps, and maybe a recycled shelf from the thrift store? Not to steal his idea or anything, but if I had an extra $ 500 sitting around I would probably have to pay the rent first..

This hurt my heart a little. I have to have all my books lined up, in size order and all. This would make me crazy, I'm too anal!

This is the coolest bookshelf ever. So much more artistic than straight, plain shelves.

I agree with Heather. This would make me nuts within a week! My books are arranged alphabetically by author's name. When I want a specific book, I want to be able to put my hands on it "right now" and not have to scrounge around for it. Besides, I'm not rich folk to be able to spend $500 for a stupid bookcase..I do well to afford Walmart prices.
