Jon Gosselin worries his kids will Google him. Do you?
user
By Jeanne Sager
Big confession here: I got
suckered in and watched the “announcement” episode of Jon &
Kate Plus 8. And I’ve got to say, Jon Gosselin’s right.
He should worry about what his kids will find when they Google
him down the road (or whatever mega search engine is making our
kids crazy ten years on . . . remember Alta Vista? Lycos?).
Click here for a little taste of what I found, just on YouTube
(where typing “Jon Gosselin” automatically brings up the word
“partying”)
The
stuff on his soon-to-be ex-wife Kate isn’t much better (I’m all
for equal opportunity bashing here). In that vein, I looked up
myself. A few stories I’ve written for Babble, some for the
newspaper where I work, my own blog, and a magazine where I work.
Not much else.
Of course, I’m not raking in millions of dollars from a TV show
about my life (I’m not raking in millions of dollars period!), so
no one’s writing about my partying or my salary (see above). But
I’m happy to report there’s blessedly little embarrassing about me
available via Google. Honest stuff -- mostly ABOUT parenting, sure.
But my daughter isn’t going to find something I drunk-typed at 3
a.m. on a random blog.
Click here to weigh in on
what they'd find about you on Google.

Honestly, they should have thought about that BEFORE acting like a couple of selfish brats... I myself may not consciencely think about what I do or don't do that will be put up online... but now that facebook has "usernames" so you can show non-users things like photos and the like.. you really have to be weary what you do and don't say... I know if I google one of my favorite online monikers I can find old blog postings from sites..
People REALLY need to be more aware of what they do... especially NOW when papers are also in an online format...

They put their lives out to the public. They can't call foul now if they don't like what is printed. Granted, not all of the info will be accurate but that's what communicating with people is all about. Too bad neither of them thought through the consequences of accepting a reality show...it's their reality now.

I don't have kids, but if I ever do they won't find anything bad when they google me. I stay the heck away from facebook and twitter (those stupid sites are disasters waiting to happen) and I don't live my life in front of the TV camera, so no one cares who I am.
The Gosselins sold their children's souls for fame and fortune, and now they have to live with that.

I AM concerned about what shows up under my name in a Google search, which is why I don't use my full name unless I'm OK with potential employers (and my future children) seeing what I'm doing. If you Google my name, you'll find articles I've written for the newspaper where I work, the fanfiction I wrote that's on fanfiction.net, my Facebook page, my Linkedin page, my Reunion.com page and unfortunately my listing with Princeton Premier, because I was easily duped into joining that (it's like Who's Who.)
Wow! I just removed a search from Google. Does it stay removed now, if anyone Googles my name? That's so cool!

It looks like you CAN delete searches from Google. I'm so excited. :)

I feel that he will still be with his children. Why not, they are his!! The one who should feel ashamed is Kate. If I treated my husband like she treated him, he would have been long gone. Long, long gone. And I would be a single mom raising my six boys. Period. You do reap what you sow. Period.
