Mass Toyota and Lexus recall due to faulty floor mat

Toyota Motor is issuing a recall for a minimum of 3.8 million Toyota and Lexus cars due to a potential safety hazard -- the floor mat can jam the accelerator.

This recall -- the largest in Toyota's history -- came after a horrible accident last month in San Diego, when the gas pedal was jammed by the floor mat causing a Lexus to crash and kill a family of four.

The driver called the police saying that his car had no brakes and the accelerator was stuck. The car was going over 120 MPH when it crashed into an SUV, launched off an embankment, rolled and then burst into flames.

What a tragedy.

The vehicles in the recall are:

2007-2010 Camry, 2005-2010 Avalon, 2004-2009 Prius, 2005-2010 Tacoma, 2007-2010 Tundra, 2007-2010 Lexus ES 350 and 2006-2010 Lexus IS 250 and IS350.

    What do we do if our car is recalled? We have an 2007 Tundra & a 2009 Camry?

    This happened to me with my 2007 Camry. My non Toyota issued floor mat got stuck under the accelerator, I didn't understand why my car was still moving when I didn't have my foot on the gas. Thank god I wasn't going more than 30 mph and I figured out what was wrong before it was too late. It was my fault for using a protective mat over my Toyota mats, to not ruin the carpet of the car. I am sorry to hear about the accident in San Diego. We still love Toyota, just purchased a 2009 Toyota Highlander.
