I periodically train with a group called Team in
Training, I have returned for a 3rd season to
train for the LA Marathon. This time the honored hero has
struck my heart, and I am running for Taylor. Taylor Hook is
currently 16 months old, at Taylor's 9 month check up , her doctor
found a swollen gland on her neck . Her parents assumed it was an
infection since she no other symptoms, and treated it accordingly.
In April 2008 , after 2 months of no response to antibiotics, and
the gland began to grow , she was diagnosed with Anaplastic Large
Cell Lymphoma, a form of Non Hodgkins Lymphoma, It is extremely
rare for a child of her age to have cancer and especially lymphoma
. Her Cancer was in Stage II when it was diagnosed , which is very
unusual for this kind of cancer, ( usually Stage III or IV ) . She
completed a 7 week chemotherapy treatment plan at Childrens
Hospital of Orange County in Orange ,CA and on July
14,2008 her doctors told her parents she was in remission. She
continues to see the doctors at Children's Hospital of Orange
County every month to make sure her cancer does not
relapse. Taylor's cancer has a 85% cure rate, which is
almost as good as it gets for a cancer diagnosis. She is the
everyday hero and her parents are happy everyday they get to spend
with her. By sponsoring me in training and completing
the LA Marathon, the money goes to people like Taylor, her family,
and research. Please donate for Taylor.
