I am actively engaged in the marvelous adventure known as
house hunting. Adding to the fun is the Section 8 voucher I
recently achieved after 5 years of waiting. Thank God has now
resolved into Oh My God, I have one month left and I haven't
found IT yet. The deal is : use it or LOSE IT forever.
So I have to go out and move my butt to get SOMETHING, and maybe
move again later on. An exhausting proposition when one is
getting on in years, though I am told that 55 is NOT old. I
am beginning to feel it more so every day, though. The stress
of looking, and being on display with people who don't
understand about what you are doing and why what you are doing
doesn't revolve around a daily round of work.
FYI, I am on disability right now, so this voucher means a great
change in my lifestyle--a chance to get out from under, go back to
school and learn the skills I need to move on to something better
without having to work under the table as a housekeeper even though
this is what has caused my disability in the first place. A
55 year old woman trying to break into the white collar world even
when there is supposedly no age discrimination is a tough
gig. This is my ticket, or so it would seem.
Enough belly aching. I am writing this blog for a
reason.
ATTENTION OJAI AREA RESIDENTS: If you know of a one or two
bedroom house in this valley in the 1100-1200.00 price range,
please write to my email address, swanqueen1@yahoo.com.
