When I was up in Maine for the July 4th holiday, Dan and I spent a night at a super charming inn in Portland called the Pomegranate Inn . The inn was the quintessential New England bed-and-breakfast. We got in late that night and there was a key waiting for us to let us in -- how sweet. Each room has its own personality and wallpaper. I loved the room we stayed in. Rather than the trad fuddy-duddy wallpaper you typically see in hotel rooms, I thought the floral pattern had a little edge with its scale and color. It reminded me of the modern twists on florals you can find from Flavor Paper . And each room's filled with antique furniture that adds a special panache to the space. I took some shots since the space inspired me.
And there were paintings and art everywhere in the inn -- the whole house was like a gallery (and they even sell some of the art displayed). I loved how our crisp white bathroom was filled with still life paintings on the moody side that you'd typically see in a living room. Bathroom art doesn't have to be cheeky and casual.
How cool are these chairs that were on the staircase landing?!
I will say that if you're ever in the Portland area, you should check out the Pomegranate Inn. We had such a sweet stay there. The breakfast was far from the standard continental grab-a-danish variety. We sat around the dining table with two other couples and had a lively hour and a half conversation with our fellow guests and the innkeeper (something you never experience in a hotel), and we walked away with recommendations for restaurants and other inns in the area. The food was top-notch too yummy cheese toast, sausage, apples sprinkled with cinnamon, and (of course!) pomegranate juice.
