I would like to believe that we live in a society where we care for
one another. When we see that someone is in need and are able to
help, we do. The sad truth is we tend to think that someone else
will do it. Someone else, who?
We are all guilty of this at some time or another. I am, and truth
be told... I bet you are too. Let's take the next few moments
to examine ourselves just a little. I promise it won't
hurt.
When the towers in New York went crashing to the ground because of
the senseless and brutal acts of terrorist. We did not say
someone else will care. We rose up like the true Americans that we
are. Flags flew proudly. Donations of every amount poured out to
support the families of the victims. We adorned our cars with
"We Will Never Forget". We did not expect that someone
else would do it... we did it together.
Young men and women enlisted into the armed forces.Happy for the
opportunity to avenge the lives lost. Ready to say to the
world. No one comes to our land, does this thing and
get's away with it... you will be found and punished.
They (and we) were steadfast in our determination.
Today, some of those soldiers have returned home...some did not.
Many still serve and proudly defend this country.
They need...No...let me rephrase that. They require our help and
support!
We need to look for ways that we can do this. For most the flags
and have long since been removed from our cars and homes...the
outrage has lessened. Replaced by a tragic memory of the
horror's of 9-11. The promise we made to "Never
Forget" is...well...what is it?
When asked to support the Veterans or the Troops do you secretly
ignore the plea and think...Someone else will do it?
Reality check, people. Someone else is YOU AND ME!
Since when can the majority of us not afford to spare a five dollar
bill? We waste that much on one box of popcorn at the movies, or a
pack of cigarettes, or about a hundred other things that I could
list.
This week, today, as soon as you can...pull out a debit card find
ANY Veteran or a Military charity doing
great things to support the very people we called upon to fight our
fight and donate!
Give them one 5 dollar donation. You will never miss it. To them it
will add up and make a difference! Because, someone else will do it
... is an excuse.
This fourth of July, serve your country back. Be proud to do
it!
God bless this great America we call home,
