The Obamas, Zac Efron and cast of “The View” named Time’s "Most Influential People"

Time

Time magazine’s “Most Influential People in the World” list has been revealed and we find ourselves utterly in shock at some of the selections. As much as we love reading magazine lists, we think they’re created for the sole purpose of creating discussion and debate over who does not belong there. In our eyes, the list should include powerful men and women whose work inspire us to make changes to our own lives and have greatly affected the world around us. In this case, we can think of no better people than the Obamas. Likewise, three cheers for Hillary Clinton, our awesome female presidential nominee and new Secretary of State. The hero of the Hudson plane crash, pilot Chesley B. Sullenberger is about as inspirational as you can get.

Several celebrities this year also made a profound impact on society. We love that Tina Fey has made the list, because her intelligent take on comedy and satire inspires us almost daily. Stella McCartney’s refusal of fur and organic beauty products also have made an impact on the fashion and beauty world. U2’s Bono and George Clooney are powerful men with a lot of pull, and if they can get people to pay attention to important world issues, that to us, is putting their fame to good use. We would have liked to see Leonardo Dicaprio on the list as well. While we surely have nothing against artists like Zac Efron, John Legend, Penelope Cruz and Tom Hanks, have the really influenced the world? Hmm…

Another shocking nominee: Bernie Madoff. But hey, no one said being influential meant you had to be well liked, right? Madoff has made people much more careful with their money, and so for that we are grateful. Same goes for the cast of “The View.” Sometimes we want to scream through our televisions when watching these five ladies, but there’s no doubt they have inspired some important conversation about politics and human rights. We’re sorry they are the ones who brought many issues to public consciousness, but better them than no one!

Lastly, Sarah Palin made the list. How was she influential? We’ll bite our tongues and let you take a stab at answering in the comments. [Time]

I do believe Sarah should be on the list. She is a reminder of just how close this country came to having a buffoon in the #2 spot in the White House. She will always serve as a reminder that our political choices should have integrity, intelligence, common sense, and be able to speak coherently.

It is so nice to see everyday heroes like Chesley B. Sullenberger make the list. Sweet.

agree with hardyhar... Mr.Bush messed up our whole economy, he used our tax money to kill innocent ppl and now I have no job! I hate this man more than anyone else. Also I totally think that he was the one behind 911 attacks. Why would the terrorist attack the twin towers, they hate Bush so if they wanned to attack wouldn't they attack the white house?? He made this all up to attack an innocent country, messed up their lives as well as OURS!

Interesting that you think you have lost your job because of President Bush. Maybe you should look at Barney Frank and Chris Dodd who repeatedly informed us lowly people that Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae were solvent and did not deserve their attention. Barney Frank and Chris Dodd have gotten a pass on this whole debacle. Maybe you should also look at the Democratic party since they had the power in Congress the last 4 years. Maybe you should look at Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid who are the most irresponsible and power hungry people to whom we will ever be exposed. Liberals and Obama need to quit blaming someone else for their problems and think about what is good for our country. High taxes and socialism are not it!
