Obama highlights AARP, AMA
endorsements
http://www.boston.com/news/politics/politicalintelligence/2009/11/obama_highlight_3.html
"President Obama, in a surprise appearance during the regular
press briefing, bragged this afternoon about the support for the
Democratic health care bill by the AARP and the American Medical
Association, saying the endorsements bring reform closer than ever.
"
I SMELL A RAT.
Seniors, doctors groups throw their
support behind House healthcare bill

"The group, which has been pushing for a health overhaul for
more than a year, had withheld a formal endorsement of any of the
healthcare bills being developed by congressional Democrats.
That endorsement was followed by an announcement at about 10 a.m.
Pacific time from the American Medical Assn. in which the
nation's largest doctors group voiced its support for the
measure.
AARP Executive Vice President Nancy LeaMond said today that the
group saw the House Democratic bill as the most promising
proposal.
"We can say with confidence that it meets our priorities for
protecting Medicare, providing more affordable insurance for 50- to
64-year-olds and reforming our healthcare system," she said at
the group's Washington headquarters."
A DEAD RAT!
Conflict Of Interest For AARP In Health Bill Debate? (Nov.
2009)
http://www.kaiserhealthnews.org/Stories/2009/November/05/npr-aarp-health-care.aspx
"AARP revenues show how big its insurance business is.
Last year, the group collected $222 million in royalties from
UnitedHealthcare, which provides most of the health insurance
marketed under the AARP brand. That figure is almost as much as
AARP collected in dues from its members. "

Obama Answers Your Questions on Health Care Reform (July

AARP threatens senators on health care reform (June
2009)
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0609/24281.html
"Horse trading in Washington is infamous. But it's rare to
catch a glimpse of the horse in the midst of the trade in real
time. Friday was one of those rare exceptions when the powerful
lobby for seniors, the AARP, sent a memo to Senate officials
threatening to yank support for the chamber's health
committee's version of reform if it didn't get what it
wanted on another provision in the bill related to biogeneric
drugs."
=============================
Apparently, AARP got their way. Those who benefit? The
corporation that is AARP, and not its members. Did they read
the AHCAA? What about those who will lose benefits?
Will AARP "generously" offer them supplemental insurance,
as they do today?
The AMA veered far to the left decades ago. I doubt they
speak for the majority of physicians.
