So, I woke up on the right side of the bed today, but
everything else that's happened today seems to suck!
I'm riled up right now and reading some of the blogs that are
posted are just adding insult to injury.
First of all, the interstate I travel to get to work was a parking
lot. WTF is up with a High Occupancy Vehicle lane
anyway? We have a right lane, a middle lane and a left lane,
then a completely useless lane which separates the HOV lane from
the rest. I KNOW this HOV lane is supposed to encourage
carpooling, but it simply doesn't do it enough to warrant a
whole lane. People either carpool or they don't. A
special lane will not make or break their decision. What a
great commute I and a million others would have if they opened up
the useless separation lane AND the HOV lane to regular
traffic. Imagine 5 lanes of flowing traffic, not three 30
mile long parking lots. Geesh. Happy F-ing Monday.
I finally get to work and my day is all sparkles... well not
really. It sucks. I'll spare you the drama though,
because in the end I'm grateful to have a job, period.
It's temp role that'll take me to June ( I was laid off in
November 08), but it's a paycheck nonetheless.
So to break away from less than fabulous Monday here in Corporate
heck, I tune into Shine on my lunch break. Why am I drawn to
the posts that seem to anger me? I can't answer that with
certainty, but for whatever reason, I look at the following
posts:
The one about Obama's new dog by Mag.
The one about Celebrities and their incomes.
The one about pregnant women in the workplace and whether or not
they deserve special treatment by a rep of Parenting Magazine.
And the one about the Burger King commercial and whether or not the
Sir Mix aLot jam that is the basis is too sexual in nature for our
children.
Not to mention the Madonna hater articles about why she
shouldn't adopt anymore kids.
So Mag, you don't think Obama's new dog will help save
homeless children...? Not S***T!! You insist we write a
letter to our President telling him to focus on the more important
things in the world and not the new addition to his family.
Uh, ok. Dear Mr. President, how dare you get a family pet
when you could have adopted a homeless child instead...is that what
you want us to say? Or how about, Dear Mr. President, I think
you should tell the media to stop reporting on your dog and instead
report on the numbers of homeless children in America.
Maybe it's not up to the President what the media
reports. It's called fee media, maybe you've heard of
it. Ultimately, I think I get what you're trying to say,
and that is that we as Americans need to be a little bit more
responsible and encourage each other to do something about the
everyday tragedies that impact not only us but our entire
population. Okay, point taken, but if that's what
you're trying to say, then say it. Don't bash the
President who IS in fact doing his job.
Relating to the "fluff" piece of the Obama's dog...
We sit here and place blame on others and complain that this gets
the headline, BUT it's all of us that make it happen.
Segway into the crap about celebrities and their questionably
deserved salaries.... We as Americans make this possible.
Just like the Obama's dog making breaking news, the money that
Beyonce and Jenn Aniston make is because of us. If we as
shallow Americans were not so interested in their lives, and for a
day stopped supporting them by buying their music, the tabloids and
their movies, what would happen? They'd stop making that
kinda dough. We sit here and complain that they are
undeserving of an $80 mil salary, well I AGREE, but people;
it's our nation that makes it happen. We reward beauty
and fame with attention, hence money. If you don't like
it, don't support it!!
Okay, so like I said, I am riled up. Blame it on the pregnancy hormones if you will, I dunno. Speaking of pregnancy... Why was a rep from Parenting Magazine allowed to write an article in which he or she is blatantly encouraging discrimination? The main question of the post is whether or not pregnant women deserve to be spared in a lay off? Because of the additional stressors they may endure, the poster is against a preggo getting the boot. Uh hello!!!!??? We don't like to discriminate in our country remember? Why, if we don't like being discriminated against, would we want to be spared in a layoff? When the tables turn and discrimination works in our favor, we aren't such haters anymore, huh? WTF. I was laid off when I was 6 weeks along in my pregnancy. Did I stress? No. I can't depend on my job to hold my hand through life. I can't expect my job will be safe all the time. No one can. Your job doesn't keep you around because they like you. Whether you answer phones, sweep the floor or are the CEO, you help generate revenue and that is all they care about. Whether one is pregnant, has cancer, is otherwise disabled, your job doesn't give a S**T. Stop feeling as if you are entitled to work and know that it is actually a privilege. If you get the boot, you should probably have some money stashed to the side. If not, please don't complain. It's called taking accountability for ourselves.
Okay, and now the F-ing BK ad and Spongebob's/the King's desire for a square butt.... People need to not react with such defense when they see a commercial with butts on it. OMG, the tragedy!!! It's an old song folks and it "goes" with the square pants that our beloved sponge wears. I personally think it's a funny ad and honestly has no impact on the rest of my life... why should it on yours or your child's? If you don't like what is on TV, then don't watch it. Or don't let your kids watch it. How about we worry more about the actual product the commercial is marketing? The poison you may "treat" your kids to once per week, or sadly twice or three times. Fast food is a top offender in the reason why Americans are overweight and dying of heart disease every day.
So, one more rant before I go back to work...
Madonna's desire to adopt a Malawian child... The most common
argument I hear is "why can't she adopt a child from
America?" my reply-- What the F difference does it
make? We are one human race and shouldn't shun children
from the adoption process because they are from a foreign
country. An orphaned child is an orphaned child is an
orphaned child.
I could segway into my pro-choice schpeal now, but I
won't. All I WILL say is that so many complain
that embryos are being destroyed via abortion and they are all
deserving of a life... well I agree to a point, but if
that embryo turned child is given up for adoption and never
taken in by a loving family, we are left with what we were
originally complaining about with Mag... homeless children that are
otherwise forgotten about. Why submit an innocent child
to a life filled with such tragedy? Stop
fighting the abortion argument and go adopt a child
instead.
