I am sitting here at my desk, with the space heater on under my
desk, to keep my right foot warm. The reason? I broke it about 4
years ago, and currently my little stubby pinkie toe is broke.
I have to keep my foot warm and completely covered, when it is
winter (obviously) and when it rains and the temperature
fluctuates. It will throb and will be in a great deal of pain. And,
a few weeks back, I fell to the ground, crying like a little girl
(no offense ladies) because I sprained a muscle in my leg, playing
soccer with my son. I also need to take Advil PM at night, because
of my neck and back pain. So, I am wondering, what the heck
happened to me? My gosh, I am only 35. I shouldn't know when
it's going to rain because of my foot. I shouldn't have to
take Advil at night so I can sleep pain free. And spraining a
muscle from playing soccer?? I carried a king size box spring and
mattess down the basement stairs, when I was 8 months pregnant.
Now, I get a charlie horse if I stretch too hard and long in the
morning.
You know, this information was not in the brochure, regarding being
a wife, mom, and getting older. Had I known this, I would have
bubble wrapped myself and lived in a cave. Anyone else out there in
Shine land feel like they got duped on this whole getting older
thing?
(and no, I am not REALLY complaining. Just in one of those
"it's Friday and I feel like a smart a$$" moods.)

Report AbuseI had to move (about 14 yrs ago) to the south because the winters/cold of Chicago area were just too much form my joints to take. Stiffness and pain and general achy-ness. Having mild short winters has helped alot and also acupuncture treatments have been a godsend since the doctors just gave lortabs and other pain meds that didn't help the problem. My acupuncturist related that we carry/store emotional issues and stress in our joints (to protect the vital organs) especially is we tend to disassociate or ignore or discomfort. Made sense to me, something to think about.
P.S. Also, about your dreams, did you get a new mattress recently? I got one of those Tempur Pedic Mattresses (great for joints and back) and had freaky dreams for awhle at first, more deep restlful sleep they said.
