Why Start a WAH Business?

The question “Why start a WAH business” is intriguing, is it not?  Do you wait for some financial tragedy to occur before you jump out on a limb and work with fervor your chosen home business because you haveto?  Or, do you begin your chosen WAH business because you want time to de-stress from your current job?  To meet new people and make friends?  To get discounts on your favorite products?  Personal satisfaction of setting and reaching particular goals?

I like to think of my WAH business  as my fun thing to do to get out and meet people, network and provide my customers with the finest products .  I use the income for extras at home… dining out, weekend trips, shopping sprees, and, yes… the inevitable bill paying.  Without this money, things would be extremely tight financially.  But, all of the money aside, I truly believe in the products I represent.  That’s key to the success of any WAH business, don’t you agree?

If you are looking for your own WAH business, you will undoubtedly encounter some concerns.  Let’s take a moment to address these concerns.  To do so, I encourage you to get a sheet of paper and a pen for this exercise!

1.  More Money.  Yes, with WAH businesses you can add money to your bank account.  But just how much money is enough?  Does “more money” mean that you can eventually quit your day job?  Take a dream vacation?  “More money” doesn’t necessarily mean the same thing to everyone.  Decide just exactly what “more money” means to you and write it down.

2.  More Time.  We all have the same 24 hours in each day, right?  The difference is how we use them.  If your current situation doesn’t afford you time away from the house or away your every day duties, perhaps you need to find another avenue for de-stressing.  “More time” may equal catching up on tasks often pushed aside.  “More time” may mean additional free time to spend with friends and family.  Decide what “more time” means to you and jot it down.

3.  Less Stress.  Stress is a number one health concern!  Stress is a leading cause of heart attacks, depression and a whole host of other ailments.  Take a moment to write down those situations or items that are causing you stress.  Money?  Home repairs?  Your job?    Friends?  Once you’ve written it down, it may be easier to address a solution.  Will a WAH business cure some or all of these situations?

4.  Little or No Risk.  Does the WAH business you are contemplating offer a money back guarantee on it’s products?  Does it allow you to stop being a rep or consultant or distributor at a moment’s notice without incurring penalty or fees?  Does it stand behind it’s wares and staff?  Does it offer in depth training and support?  Are there people readily accessible to answer your questions?  Is there an actual product line or service that you are selling or is it just a “repeat and reuse” type of business?  (Ad generators, pyramids etc.)  Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

And lastly…

5.  Personal Satisfaction.  Do you absolutely enjoy the products and/or services that your WAH offers?  Are you confident in their quality?  Do you believe you can make a difference with this WAH business?  Can you offer it to others?  Do you feel confident in helping others start their own WAH business with you?  Does your WAH business get you excited?  Jot down all the positive details about your WAH business choice.

Once you’ve reviewed the information you’ve written down, you should be in a much better position to agree or disagree that starting the chosen WAH business will benefit you.  If you feel that you’ve chosen the wrong WAH business, or need more information on other WAH business plans, email me at cricketbeers@40DollarDream.com !  I will be happy to provide you with more information on my WAH business   or give you additional information and WAH business selections to make an informed choice.

Make it a GREAT week!

Not for everyone though. You need to be highly motivated. I tried setting up a tax business many years ago but my heart wasn't in it. I had been working for a CPA, doing all the work, getting none of the credit so I struck out on my own. I really wanted to be a Nurse all my life so the tax business didn't get me excited. Then my husband said, "why don't you go to nursing school." "Yeh, that's more like it," I said. Today I am a Registered Nurse in the field of Hospice and LOVING IT...... My advise is be careful not to invest too much time or money unless your heart is really in it. It helps for the business to be SOMETHING YOU LOVE DOING. Great post, Christine.

    Have a wonderful day.
