Work, Money and More: Are We Merely Rolling the Dice, Hoping for the Best?

A thought occurred to me the other evening ... The world already has everything it needs, all the necessities without a bit of deficit. There’s enough food produced to feed the entire word (yet a hunger crisis), we have an abundance of science, technology, communications, medicine, manufactured clothing & goods, energy resources for fuel, a system of currency & free enterprise, import, export, transportation, distribution, and  the world-wide web at our fingertips.

So why is the entire world falling apart? Why the banking crisis, the business credit crisis, rising food and oil prices crisis, soaring healthcare costs? We’re losing our jobs, our homes, our retirement savings, and our health – in short, the very foundations of our material existence. How can this possibly be happening in a world so full of material abundance? It boggles the mind and made me wonder “What can a single individual do to change the world?”

It’s like we already have all the necessary pieces for healthy, happy, and productive lives, but just don’t know how to properly connect the parts together in a way that would form a complete and permanent outcome: One harmonious interconnected operating system called "our world" – where we feel confident, secure, peaceful, and hopeful for our children’s future.

Even more mind-boggling, it’s clear throughout history that no plan put in place by our governments, banks, businesses, green groups or peace groups (and there are many serious and brillant people in these organizations), has ever really resolved the problem.

Yet despite of history and its human erring, we still think there’s some kind of recovery plan to come up with that will fix or ‘stimulate’ things so that we're back on our feet again. It’s like a roll of the dice, “Let’s put a new plan in place, and hope things will turn out better this time.” Why should it turn out any different?

I say none of these plans will work until we figure out what actually caused the crisis. How? Simply by understanding how our inherent human nature has resulted in crisis and what effect globalization and interdependency plays in our lives. And then what? Then we'll seek to learn the correct system of connection with one another, not a mere roll of the dice.

(okay, I said it)... What do you say?
