Write It Down!

user

Every day I receive questions from aspiring authors about where and how to start. What was my inspiration ... and of course, could I offer any advice ... how hard is it to get published ... what’s the value of self-publication vs traditional ...

Hidden deep within them, everyone has a story to tell. It’s the ‘digging it out’ and putting it on paper that’s the hard part ... well, not so hard once you open the floodgates of your mind.

My inspiration for writing came from a doctor who told me to put my thoughts and feelings about my illness in writing. He even gave me my first ‘Composition’ note book.

That’s the first piece of advice I give ... WRITE IT DOWN. Get a notebook ... write down everything that has an impact on you. Remember the: “Who, What, Where, When, How and Why” - I have those words taped to my monitor so I can be reminded whenever I write anything.

Someone make you happy? ~Who, What, Where, When, How and Why~  Angry?  Sad?  Frustrated?  Elated?

One of the most difficult things, I find, to write about are emotions. There are so many and so varied, they are hard to express in writing. Especially when you are floating on top of the world and have to write about a ‘down’ feeling. If you already have it in writing, it sure makes it easier.

More to follow.....

Feel free to ask questions and I’ll try to answer - from my experience.
