10 Years of 'Sex:' Real-life counterparts -- the PR/marketing consultant

Whether we devoured every episode of "Sex and the City" or popped in periodically to catch up with the fab four, few among us didn't compare how like and unlike our lives were to the successful, fashionable and friend-devoted women whose TV lives we followed.

So to mark THE MOVIE's opening, I caught up with some very accomplished women in real life to see how they view their lives in comparison to their TV-series counterparts: A city-loving PR/marketing professional, a Chelsea art gallery owner, a Chicago lawyer, and, yes, Shine's very own Love+Sex editor/blogger, Erin Flaherty. In this post, see how Audrey Mann Cronin, a big SATC fan who runs her own PR and marketing company, compares her life to Samantha's.

Audrey Mann Cronin is a PR and marketing consultant who owns Mann Cronin PR. Like Samantha, she loves NYC and her work but has her own less-baudy style, is married to her "Big" and has two children, a girl and a boy, ages 8 and 7.

"I LOVE NYC and lived there for many of my single years – and a few of my married ones. I dated a lot, didn’t get married until I was 33, and spent many late nights out in the fabulous bars and restaurants with my girlfriends. I recall a line from 'Sex in the City' that really resonated with me – one character said. “NYC is my boyfriend” – and for a while it was mine!

I have been doing PR for about 20 years now and have ridden around in limos and attended some pretty great parties. Most of my work has been in consumer-oriented technology. I worked with both fortune 100 brands and tech start-ups including Sony, Microsoft, Warner Home Video, AOL Moviefone, etc., launched some of the first music web sites (e.g. DavidBowie.com ) and retailers (musicboulevard.com ) and PRed some of the biggest video game companies (id Software, Midway Games, Sierra Online, Acclaim, etc) and now have my own business, MannCroninPR.com.

I am not as baudy as Kim Cattrall, but love a great party and to laugh till I’m silly.

I really appreciated how Samantha gave voice to what women really want and feel – especially in sex and relationships.

I like to think that Samantha and I share similar qualities -- smart (not sure about her education, but I went to Cornell University), funny, attractive, and still sexy ;-)."
