2009 Has Been the Worst

user

Hello everyone,

I must say, 2009 has been the worst year ever.  This is totally off topic from the main purpose of my blog – empowering people to pursue the careers of their dreams.  However, the overall mission of Career Cougar is commitment to empowered and extraordinary lives.  With that being said, I must say, although I am very blessed, I’ve been hearing bad news time and time again this year.

First, I just read the musical legend, Michael Jackson, passed away due to cardiac arrest at the age of 50.  He had a tough life in spite of his money and fame…and it’s so unfortunate to hear this bad news, especially with the tortured and volatile life he’s had.  Farah Fawcett passed away from cancer at the age of 62.  She fought a hard battle, and it's so unfortunate to see such a strong person go.

Next, we just experienced a layoff at my employer and many of my friends/colleagues were affected.  I know companies have to consolidate and become more efficient to stay afloat, but it’s so unsettling to see capable, hardworking people displaced in such a depressed economy.

Next, I just found out some disturbing news about a great guy that I used to work with.  Recently, his doctor informed him that he is at risk for terminal cancer.  Another gentleman that I worked with left behind a wife and kids due to respiratory cancer.  Another great guy that I know who always looked like the epitome of health recently experienced a respiratory failure, and he’s still coping with complications.

Finally, I just found out today that one of my favorite bosses of all time is being moved to a new department.  He’s a great guy who’s very fair, very sharp, and highly effective in what he does.  He has great vision and an excellent work ethic.  He is willing to roll up his sleeves and work with his employees to get results.  I truly enjoyed working for him, and I was deeply affected by the news today.

It’s been a crazy year so far.  I hope it gets better.  If you have any real issues that’s going on in your life (and willing to share), please email me or comment here.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Here’s to a better 2009.
