I just read another post here that reminded me how mad I am about what is being shown on TV and is advertised as "family" entertainment. I am not a huge fan of Dancing with the Stars on ABC which is on every Monday at 8/7PM central, as well as Tuesday at 9. I happened to be watching last weeks episode because I was looking forward to seeing a live performance by Colbie Caillat that night. While I was waiting patiently, and watchnig some serious talanted young people... I realized during the hip hop performance of Mya and Dmitry, that this was absolutely not a show I would allow my children to watch until they were well out of high school. All of the bumping and grinding... Sick! I wanted to barf! To top it all off, the cameras show the crowd screaming and cheering. Guess who the majority of the crowd was... 10-15 year old girls. I could not believe my eyes when I saw these young innocent girls admiring this type of act, which might as well be classified as adult dancing. (Strip tease) What has this world come to? While my 4 year old was tucked safe and sound in her bed, when she is 15 years old and wanting to watch what her friends are watching, what is a parent to do with all of this solicited sex? I am frightened. These shows desensitize me from having any sort of sympothy for girls who are pregnant at a young age, or taken advantage of. We are allowing it for crying out loud! We are basically shoving it down their throats that this is what their role is.... SEX OBJECT. This show should be on at 9pm at the earliest. I love some of the shows on ABC, and I'm not trying to single them out, as the whole entertainment industry uses the sex selling tactic. This was just a depressing relization while I was waiting to see a well rounded artist such as Colbie Caillat play. I can tell you that my 4 year old will be allowed to go to her concert with me when she is in town. Take care all you shine readers, and make sure you know what's on your kid's TV!
