I was surfing the net for a government agency that could help me with my mortgage problem. I’ve read from this government site about how loan modification has helped many Americans retain their homes. It was indeed a very enlightening read. It says there that loan modification is this process of modifying your loan terms which eventually lead to reduced loan interests, longer terms, and of course lowered monthly payments. It was just what I needed to get myself out of the financial pit hole. I browsed more into the site and it has a section there with a list of legal and government approved loan modification companies that can help homeowners like me with this problem. There was one site that really struck me because it offers a Spanish translation of their information. I said to myself, “That’s so cool!”. I am also a Spanish minority and although I can speak and understand fluent English, writing a hardship letter is still something that I can’t do. The great thing is that this site offers to help minorities like me write a convincing hardship letter. Seriously, it is like taking 70% of the burden and anxiety I have about all these procedures.
So I signed up for the service and I got a call right away. They had me come to their office to speak with a finance lawyer. At first, I was nervous because I mean, let’s admit it, not everyone is really happy to speak to a lawyer (or to a police for some people). I think he sensed that I was really jittery about the whole thing. He told me that telling him about my financial situation is very important and that he would do the best he can to help me solve this mortgage problem, so I just became honest and told him about how I was fired and all and the payment notices that are already piling up on my mailbox.
I did all the talking during the first half of our conversation. He was listening intently and was like sizing me up (you know like what all lawyers on TV do when their clients tell them their sob stories). He took his turn to speak and I was blown away! It’s like he knows all the answers and he actually made it seem very simple. I was like, “How come I knew about this loan modification thing just now?”. Seriously, I could have saved myself from all these stress if I had learned about this sooner.
Right now, we are already in the process of getting a good loan modification deal from my lender. My lawyer assured me that he would help me get the best deal I can. I can’t wait until my mortgage problem is over! This would seriously help me lessen my stress.
