American Idol is adding a fourth judge: Grammy-nominated songwriter Kara DioGuardi (I love saying her last name!).

DioGuardi will appear at the judges' table with Paula Abdul , Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson on the eighth season of the show.   Everyone is wondering, who is Kara Dioguardi?  DioGuardi's songs have appeared on more than 100 million records by the likes of Christina Aguilera , Gwen Stefani , Celine Dion , Faith Hill, Pink , Britney Spears , Miley Cyrus , the Jonas Brothers, Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey .  She has also written for past idol winners.

The producers hope Dioguardi will bring (get this..) "a new hot, sassy, sexy energy to the show."
 
Upon the recent departure of Producer Nigel Lythoe (also a judge on "So you think you can dance") many are wondering should American Idol just call it quits?  After all, all good things must come to an end eventually....right?

    Why do they need 4 judges????/Now we;ll have to put up with 2 and 2 ties all the time.Boreing.

    I have never missed a show of American Idol, not always going along with the judges most of the time. They have to much input and way to much power. Last season was a real bust for me , David Archuleta was clearly the best of all, and because of his youth and lack of stage presence, that was just because of his inocence and youth, I think they, the Judges and the producers pushed Cookto the forefront, clearly a money thing. well D.A. will be the winner in the long run. never watching again, just my opinion.
