Amy Winehouse diagnosed with emphysema

Amy Winehouse just keeps on slipping into the vortex of the Talented-Musicians-Who-Might-Die category (others include Pete Doherty and Scott Weiland). Through all the arrests, drunken behaviors, drug use and relationship woes, this blow may hurt the most—she has emphysema, likely caused by smoking crack and cigarettes. For a person whose talent rests on her ability to sing, this can’t be good. An oxygen masks sort of hinders your vocals.

In addition to early stage emphysema, she has been diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat! We know it’s hard to believe from photos, but Winehouse is still only a mere 24-years-old. Amy, we’re taking to you, we want more albums from you, not an appearance on Dr. Drew’s Celebrity Rehab. Get it together. [Yahoo!]

I am so shocked. She is one of my favorite singers. When I'm at home, I turn on her cd and it relaxes me away from my man troubles and job /life troubles. I awish her all the best and hope she does another cd soon. Can someone please get her into celebrity rehab? She probabaly won't want to go, go, go.

She's so incredibly talented and yet so incredibly troubled. Why are so many gifted artists so self-destructive?

When I heard about this over the weekend, I was heartbroken. She's immensely talented and to see her on such a decline is sad. I hope that w/this diagnosis, she has a moment of clarity and realizes that this situation isn't a joke.

I recently gave a comment on a similar article here on yahoo and some girl was going on and on about how Amy sucked and how reporters should do stories on her anymore. It really breaks my heart to see Amy self-destruct...but what really hurts is to see how heartless most people have now become on this matter. I feared the worse and now its been reported!...the last thing I ever wanted was to hear was that she could and will die if she continued with the drug use ( there's no telling what else is wrong with her ).

She's only 24! She should be enjoying her success, not wondering if she will live to see tomorrow or wondering how many people out there actually give a damn about her.

And so another falls to the trials and tribulations of fame, which usually ends in extensive drug use. Shows you where all her money was going.

She is such a druggie. Maybe if instead of buying albums from ppl that smoke crack, drive fancy cars, and get "crunk" we could refocus the industry on solid individuals like John Mayer. There are plenty of great bands out there that write inspiring music and aren't druggies. And, this isn't a decline. She didn't get famous and wake up one day going, "huh, it think I will start smoking crack and cigarettes." It is so terrible for you ppl to take pitty on someone who has done this to herself. If she got emphysema because of poor air quality, that would be one thing, but come on ppl. She did this to herself, and by her own freewill. It may suck, but it was completely avoidable.

She's a train wreck, granted, but that doesn't detract from her talent. We're all flawed -- why not celebrate her talent and wish her the best?

I am just saying that those of you who said it made you "feel like u were going to be sick" or "cry for hours," why? I am not wishing certain death on her, but I am not going to feel bad for her. I hope she gets better, but the emphysema is her own fault. I will not pity anyone who puts themselves into that situation. My cousin has lung cancer because he smoked his whole life. My uncle is a paraplegic because he dove into a 5 ft pool head first and broke his neck. Yes, their my family and it's sad, but I don't pity them because it was completely avoidable. That's all there is to it.

Drug addict and deserves anything and everything that has happened to her. She won't get any sympathy here... I will reserve my sympathies for her parents who have to watch their child continue to kill herself.

Whoa there.... im sure there is some music out there that falls comfortably between Amy and John Mayer. We cant all like the same thing. Sometimes its hard to separate the actions of a singer from the actual songs. But there are many many musicians who have or had personal struggles and make fab music. for example, Keith Richards, Elvis, Kanye West, Whitney Houston, Steven Tyler,

Amy is a great artist, but its just sad she's taken this route. But she isnt the first or nor will she the last drugged up brilliant artist to grace the earth.
