Appropriate crushes for a 30-something woman, #1: Jason Bateman

Arrested Development
star, Jason Bateman, has signed a deal with 20th Century Fox TV, to develop shows through his production company, F+A.

I, for one, am extremely excited to see what Mr. Bateman will come up with. Anyone who's a fan of Arrested Development (which sorely was yanked off the tube in 2006) can understand and appreciate the talent of Jason Bateman. He's hilarious. His comic timing is impeccable. And who else could have made the good guy/honorable character of Michael Bluth actually edgy, besides him? NO ONE.

But, my crush--I mean intense respect for his talent--goes way back to his days as a child star. He played Derek, Ricky Schroeder's, wise cracking nemesis on Silver Spoons. While other girls were fawning over blond, blue-eyed Ricky, I was in love with Jason Bateman. This trend continued on to my teen years, when most of my girlfriends collaged their binders with magazine cutouts of Kirk Cameron from Growing Pains, I harbored an intense crush for Bateman, batting my eyelashes through episodes of The Hogan Family. I kept my crush a secret then, but no longer. I love you, Jason Bateman.

Jason Bateman at number one?! Sorry, Babe. So many over 30 men outrank Jason Bateman on the hot meter. Like Clive Owen. I'm melting just thinking about him.

But seriously. . .what do you mean by appropriate? Is it appropriate to only have crushes on men in their 30s if you're a woman your 30s? I have a hard time going with that. If your theory is correct, then teenage girls should only crush on other teens and twenty-somethings only on other 20-somethings. And Brad Pitt, Clive Owen, and a lot of forty-something hotties are off limits as well.

Age shouldn't matter in the realm of fantasy crushes. For fantasy crushes, a hot man or woman is hot no matter how old they are and they are fantasy crush-worthy and appropriate to fantasy crush on no matter how old you are. I have a 28 year old friend who has a huge fantasy crush on Sean Connery. Is that inappropriate? No. . .and why?? Because it's a fantasy crush.

Agreed, lp! Especially the hostility, what gives? It's just a light-hearted topic for a summer's day. The haters need to chill or just think about Patrick Dempsey and Jason Bateman, along with Owen Wilson, ......:-)....... Was I saying something? LOL

    OMFG! YESS!!! MICHAEL BLUTH!!!

...sorry for the all caps, but I worship at the feet of Mr. Jason Bateman. He seriously needs more filmwork. He's incredibly talented. See him in "Dodgeball"? On paper, it's a crappy part that had shoddy dialogue, but he made it WORK and QUOTABLE. He should have seriously won the Emmy for AD. Forget Tony Shaloub. He already has 50 of 'em and I'm bored by Monk.
