Barack Obama dubbed most influential man of the year—who is your pick?

The #1 men’s lifestyle site, AskMen.com, polled over 200,000 readers on the male celebs who have the biggest impact on the way they behave, buy and think. The 49 guys selected run the gamut of entertainers, athletes, businessmen, and politicians from all around the globe.

The list was somewhat surprising though. When we think of the most popular guys, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Kanye West and David Beckham come to mind first, but they only ranked 22, 33, 17 and 25. We’re kind of psyched that readers are a little more open minded than worshipping the typical celeb fare, but really? No Johnny Depp or upcoming Bond star Daniel Craig? Apparently the less obvious Jon Stewart, Tom Ford, Lorne Michaels and J.J. Abrams have won the adoration of a more discerning crowd.

These are the top 10 on the AskMen.com Most Influential Men list:

1) Barack Obama (Democratic presidential nominee)
2) Steve Jobs (Apple CEO)
3) Michael Phelps (Olympic swimmer)
4) Robert Downey, Jr (actor)
5) Stephen Colbert (political TV commentator)
6) Gordon Ramsay (celebrity chef)
7) Christian Bale (actor)
8) Rob Kay ("Rock Band" video game designer)
9) Cristiano Ronaldo (soccer player)
10) John McCain (Republican presidential nominee)

I'd have to agree that it would be Senator Barack Obama. Even if you don't agree with his politics, he has really made all of us look at the situation in the United States differently this election.

I'm happy it was Obama. He has ingnited a new interest in politics, especially among moderates and independents. I could also see Brad Pitt as the winner, not because he is an actor... but because he has thrown himself 100% into building homes for the poor in post katrina New Orleans.

in the world well that's a loaded question...

how about Osama Bin laden----it didn't say a positive influence...

his influence has determined a never ending war in Iraq and Afghan by

centralizing all the international terrorists to two central locations.

like fighting the angriest bee in a whole large bees nest...
